Palm in the cockpit

There has been much debate on this topic. Though there are no software/Hardware IFR certified packages utilizing the Palm Platform, it sure makes for an inexpensive navigation aid.  Since the removal of the P-code offset on the GPS constellation, even handheld GPS receivers are extremely accurate.  And, with the new WAAS standard quickly being refined, accurracy is going to be even better.

There are many GPS/Palm Applications freely available as well as very nice packages for a nominal fee.

Navigation isnt the only thing that the Palm can do, flight planning has much more applications available.  Many have the functionality of an E6B flight computer.  Although, you cannot take it into an FAA exam, it makes for a great flight planning tool.  Since preparation is the key to a successful flight, any assistance to planning is greatly appreciated.

Plane & Pilot Magazine has a great article about this.   AVWeb also has an informative article.
